Life and register readings
Salih Efendi was born in Tirebin. Work began in 1877/78 (AH 1294), on a first salary of 500 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1877/78, with Salih as Câriye-i rüsûmat memuriyeti ve derîn-i rüsûmat idaresi memuriyeti and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1878 to 1895. Salih then moved to Ankara from 1895 to 1898. Alongside, the lists for 1897 to 1899 give a second post, in Mersin as Telgraf merkezi posta kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1898 to 1903 give a second post, in Beirut as Telgraf ve posta kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1902/03 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Telgraf ve posta kâtibi. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1878.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 500 kuruş a month in 1877/78, when 54 per cent of paid officials earned less. Over ten years pay ended below where it began, 365 kuruş against 500. The final annual entry is for 1902/03.
