Life and register readings
The life of İbrahim Efendi began in Çemişgezek in 1842/43 (AH 1258). İbrahim studied at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). At about 18, in 1860/61, İbrahim began work. The first annual entry, for 1860/61, names İbrahim as Nizamiye askeri, with no place. The lists have no entry for 1866 to 1868 and 1874 to 1877. The annual lists then follow İbrahim to Şanlıurfa (Urfa) from 1877 to 1878. Alongside, the lists for 1878 to 1884 give a second post, in İskenderun as Rüsumat idaresi kantariye kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1883 to 1885 give a second post, in a post with no place named as a customs official (Rüsumat Memuru), with a rise to Rüsumat Memuru. For 1885 to 1887 the lists have no entry. The lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1873/74 and Vefat (death) for 1887/88 instead of a title.
Pay rose from 90 kuruş a month in 1868/69 to a peak of 500 in 1883/84, as Rüsumat Memuru, when 60 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1887/88.
