Mehmed Necib Efendi

Mehmed Necib Efendi was born in Harput in 1848/49 (AH 1265); the father's occupation was "Tabip". At about 15, in 1863/64, Mehmed Necib began work in Üsküdar. The first annual entry, for 1863/64, places Mehmed Necib in Üsküdar as Mutasarrıflık tahrirat kalemi mülazımı. The lists have no entry for 1864 to 1866. Mehmed Necib then moved to Istanbul from 1866 to 1870, then a post with no place named from 1870 to 1881. For 1871 to 1878 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1879 to 1884 give a second post, in Taiz as Kordon Nezareti başkatibi. Alongside, the lists for 1879 to 1894 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Mal Muduru, with a rise to İstinaf mahkemesi başkatibi in 1885/86. The lists have no entry for 1887 to 1891. The farthest post, Taiz, lay about 2,850 km from Harput, and 29 of the 5,339 officials with a known birthplace and place of service served as far from the birthplace.
