Life and register readings
Mehmed Ali Efendi (A) was born in Varna in 1867/68 (AH 1284); the father's occupation was "Varna Sancağı aşar kâtibi muavini". At about 16, in 1882/83, Mehmed Ali (A) began work in Istanbul. Every annual entry from 1882/83 to 1890/91 places Mehmed Ali (A) in the same post, Dokuzuncu Daire-i Belediye Muhasebe Kalemi hizmeti, in Istanbul.
