Life and register readings
Born in Aleppo (Halep) in 1875/76 (AH 1292), Mihail Efendi came from the Katolik community; the father's occupation was "Halep belediye memuru". Work began in Aleppo in 1891/92, at about 16. The annual lists begin in 1891/92, with Mihail as Telgrafhane memuru in Aleppo, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1894/95. Alongside, the lists for 1894 to 1896 give a second post, in İskenderun as Telgrafhane memuru. At the same time, from 1895 to 1906, the lists also place Mihail in Adana as Mersin Telgraf ve Posta Merkezleri Lisan-ı Ecnebiye Muhabere Memuru.
