İbrahim Edhem Efendi

Born in Harput in 1845 (AH 1261), İbrahim Edhem Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). At about 17, in 1862/63, İbrahim Edhem began work in Damascus (Şam). The annual lists begin in 1862/63, with İbrahim Edhem as Muhasebe ve tapu kalemleri mülazımı in Damascus, where the entries run to 1867/68. Alongside, the lists for 1867 to 1872 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Defter-i hakani kalemi mukayyidi.
