Mustafa Efendi

The life of Mustafa Efendi began in Pristina (Priştine) in 1869/70 (AH 1286); the father's occupation was "Tüfekçi". The first salary was 80 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1881/82, with Mustafa as Şeriyye Mahkemesi Kalemi stajyeri and no place named. Alongside, the lists for 1882 to 1889 give a second post, in Pristina as Sancak Merkezi Evrak Mukayyitliği yardımcısı. At the same time, from 1884 to 1889, the lists also place Mustafa in a post with no place named as Evrak Kalemi arzuhal mukayyidi. Alongside, the lists for 1888 to 1908 give a second post, in Skopje as Vilayet Merkezi Evrak mukayyidi. For 1908 to 1910 the lists have no entry. The last posts were in Osmaniye from 1910 to 1911. The lists give Azil (dismissal) for 1910/11 instead of a title.

Pay rose from 50 kuruş a month in 1882/83 to a peak of 700 in 1910/11, in Osmaniye, when 59 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, 27 years of salary come to 94,560 kuruş, 71 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The final annual entry is for 1911.
