Life and register readings
Born in Aleppo (Halep) in 1860/61 (AH 1277), İskender Efendi came from the Katolik community. The schooling was at a Greek Orthodox school (Rum Mektebi).
Work began in Aleppo in 1879/80, at about 19. From the first annual entry, for 1879/80, to 1905/06, every annual entry places İskender in the same post, Rüsum-ı Sitte Nezareti hizmeti, in Aleppo, the birthplace.
