Life and register readings
The life of Mehmet Behçet Efendi began in Bandırma in 1876/77 (AH 1293); the father's occupation was "Bafra kazası binbaşısı". Work began in Bandırma in 1896/97, at about 20, on a first salary of 80 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1896/97, places Mehmet Behçet in Bandırma, the birthplace, as Tahrirat kitabeti mukayyit vekili, where the entries run to 1900/01.
