Life and register readings
Mehmet Nuri Efendi was born in Divriği in 1862/63 (AH 1279); the father's occupation was "Bidayet mahkemesi azası". The first annual entry, for 1890/91, names Mehmet Nuri as Nahiye Muduru, with no place. The lists have no entry for 1891 to 1895. The annual lists then follow Mehmet Nuri to Istanbul from 1895 to 1906. For 1898 to 1900, 1902 to 1905 and 1906 to 1908 the lists have no entry. The last entries, from 1908 to 1911, name Mehmet Nuri as Kadro harici, with no place. The lists give Vefat (death) for 1910/11 instead of a title.
The salary went from 520 kuruş a month in 1890/91 to 665 in 1901/02, the peak, in Istanbul, when 70 per cent of paid officials earned less. That salary was paid for a single year, and the next list gives 500 kuruş. The final annual entry is for 1910/11.
