Life and register readings
The life of İbrahim Halil Efendi began in Çemişgezek in 1843/44 (AH 1259); the father's occupation was "İdlib kaymakamı". Work began in Erzurum in 1866/67, at about 23, on a first salary of 120 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1866/67, with İbrahim Halil as Mektubi kalemi mübeyyizi in Erzurum. At the same time, from 1867 to 1869, the lists also place İbrahim Halil in a post with no place named as Tahrir kalemi mukayyidi. İbrahim Halil then moved to Konya and Mazgirt from 1869 to 1881, with a rise to Emlak Basmuharriri in 1878 and to Aşar ve ağnam başkatibi in 1879/80. The last entries, from 1882 to 1887, name İbrahim Halil as Sancak Muhasebecisi, with no place.
The salary went from 120 kuruş a month in 1866/67 to 2,000 in 1880/81, the peak, as Sancak Muhasebecisi in Mazgirt, when 93 per cent of paid officials earned less. That salary was paid for a single year, and the next list gives 1,800 kuruş. The last annual entry is for 1886/87.
