Mehmed Mukbil Bey

Mehmed Mukbil Bey was born in Bursa in 1876/77 (AH 1293) into the İslam community; the father's occupation was "Merkez vilâyet bi'dayet muhâkemesi ceza da'iresi âzâsı". The personnel record dates the first work to 1899/1900, after the first annual entry, on a first salary of 500 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1897/98, names Mehmed Mukbil as Hüdâvendigâr vilâyeti vali maiyeti me'muriyeti, with no place. At the same time, from 1901/02, the lists also place Mehmed Mukbil in Bursa as Bursa kazasının kavlinde aşar mültezimleri arasında kayıd olan hududun ta'yin ve takriki me'muriyeti (ilâveten). The annual lists then follow Mehmed Mukbil to Eskişehir and Giresun from 1902 to 1909. Alongside, the lists for 1908/09 give a second post, in Sivas as Sivas kazası kai'makamlığı. Few officials served in as many places; fewer than 8 per cent of the 6,605 officials with a place of service did.

The salary went from 500 kuruş a month in 1899/1900 to 2,500 in 1909/10, the peak, in Derna, when 91 per cent of paid officials earned less. Over nine years the salaries add up to 126,300 kuruş, 2.7 times what an official on the median salary earned. The final annual entry is for 1909/10.
