Life and register readings
The life of İbrahim Niyazi Efendi began in Malatya in 1845/46 (AH 1262). At about 19, in 1865/66, İbrahim Niyazi began work. The annual lists begin in 1865/66, with İbrahim Niyazi as Stajyer and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1866 to 1869. Alongside, the lists for 1870/71 give a second post, in Balat as Balat Nahiyesi Tahrirat Katibi (ek). Next came Lice in 1872/73, then a post with no place named from 1873 to 1892, with a rise to Nahiye Muduru. For 1881 to 1884 the lists have no entry. The annual lists then follow İbrahim Niyazi to Parga and Edremit from 1892 to 1897. Alongside, the lists for 1896 to 1899 give a second post, in a post with no place named as a district governor (Kaymakam).
Pay rose from 500 kuruş a month in 1870/71 to a peak of 1,250 in 1886/87, when 85 per cent of paid officials earned less. Over 16 years pay ended below where it began, 480 kuruş against 500.
