Life and register readings
The life of İsmail Nadir Efendi began in Kuşadası in 1876/77 (AH 1293); the father's occupation was "Hersek gümrük memuru". At about 22, in 1898/99, İsmail Nadir began work, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1898/99, names İsmail Nadir as Merkez muvakkit aşar ambar memuru, with no place.
