Life and register readings
Mehmet Emin Efendi was born in Silistra (Silistre) in 1845 (AH 1261); the father's occupation was "Değirmenci esnafı". Work began in Silistra in 1860/61, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1860/61, places Mehmet Emin in Silistra, the birthplace, as Tapu kalemi mülazımı, where the entries run to 1875/76. The lists have no entry for 1861 to 1875 and 1876 to 1881. The annual lists then follow Mehmet Emin to Sapanca, Tekirdağ and Darıca from 1881 to 1891. For 1885 to 1890 the lists have no entry. The last post was in Jeddah (Cidde) in 1892/93.
