Life and register readings
The life of Muhyiddîn Efendi began in Tokat in 1861/62 (AH 1278); the father's occupation was "emlakçı". At about 18, in 1879/80, Muhyiddîn began work. The annual lists begin in 1879/80, with Muhyiddîn as stajyer and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1884 to 1888. Muhyiddîn then moved to Hasbaya (Hasbeya) from 1890 to 1893. Alongside, the lists for 1892 to 1896 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Düyun-ı Umumiye memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1895/96 give a second post, in Gaza as Düyun-ı Umumiye memuru. The last post was in Nablus in 1897/98. The lists give Azil (dismissal) for 1892/93 instead of a title.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 500 kuruş a month in 1889/90, when 56 per cent of paid officials earned less. The peak lasted a single year; the next list gives 200 kuruş. The last annual entry is for 1897/98.
