Life and register readings
The life of Mehmed Şükrü Efendi began in Harput in 1856/57 (AH 1273). Mehmed Şükrü studied at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). At about 31, in 1887/88, Mehmed Şükrü began work in Van. The annual lists begin in 1887/88, with Mehmed Şükrü as Meclis muhasebe kalemi mülazımı in Van. For 1888 to 1895 the lists have no entry. The annual lists then follow Mehmed Şükrü to Şemdinli (Şemdinan) in 1895/96, then back to Van from 1900 to 1904. The last post was in Adilcevaz in 1905/06.
