MAHMUT FAHRİ EFENDİ was born in Altunköprü in 1882/83 (AH 1300); the father's occupation was "Bağdat Düyun-ı Umumiye müdürü". At about 16, in 1899/1900, MAHMUT FAHRİ began work in Karbala (Kerbela).
