Life and register readings

Rızkullah Efendi was born in Gaziantep (Antep) in 1851/52 (AH 1268); the father was a merchant (tüccar). At about 16, in 1867/68, Rızkullah began work in Aleppo (Halep), on a first salary of 250 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1867/68, with Rızkullah as Sandık kâtibi in Aleppo. Alongside, the lists for 1872/73 give a second post, in Kilis as Mal Muduru, with a rise to Mal Muduru. Alongside, the lists for 1872 to 1879 give a second post, in Şanlıurfa as Sancak muhasebe kalemi başkâtibi. The annual lists then follow Rızkullah to Aleppo and Jaffa (Yafa) from 1879 to 1887. Alongside, the lists for 1886/87 give a second post, in Şanlıurfa as Ticaret mahkemesi reisi. Next came Şanlıurfa and Serres (Siroz) from 1890 to 1896. Alongside, the lists for 1895 to 1900 give a second post, in Aydın as Bidayet Mahkemesi Muddei Umumi Muavini. The last entries, from 1902 to 1908, name Rızkullah as Mazuliyet maaşı (Mazuliyet), with no place.
