Life and register readings
The life of Hüseyin Rıfkı Efendi began in Didymoteicho (Dimetoka) in 1882/83 (AH 1300); the father's occupation was "Vergi kâtibi". Work began in Edirne in 1908/09, at about 25, on a first salary of 800 kuruş. Both annual entries, for 1908/09 and 1909/10, place Hüseyin Rıfkı in Edirne as Umur-ı Nafia mühendisi. The lists give Infisal for 1909/10 instead of a title.
