Life and register readings
Mehmet Vasfi Efendi was born in Kars. The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). Work began in Kars in 1863/64 (AH 1280), on a first salary of 150 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1863/64, with Mehmet Vasfi as Rüsumat Müdürlüğü İkinci Kâtibi in Kars, the birthplace. For 1864 to 1869 the lists have no entry. Next came a post with no place named from 1869 to 1875, with a rise to Rusumat Muduru. At the same time, from 1874 to 1876, the lists also place Mehmet Vasfi in Erzurum as Üçüncü Duhan Fabrikası Memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1875/76 give a second post, in Muş as Sancak Rüsumat Müdürü. The annual lists then follow Mehmet Vasfi to a post with no place named from 1876 to 1881. The lists have no entry for 1881 to 1885. The last posts were in Bitlis in 1885/86 and Ağrı (Karakilise) in 1890/91. For 1886 to 1890 the lists have no entry.
