Life and register readings
Mehmed Salih Efendi was born in Dagistan in 1854/55 (AH 1271). Work began in Istanbul in 1879/80, at about 25, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1879/80, places Mehmed Salih in Istanbul as Polis beşinci bölük ikinci neferi, where the entries run to 1887/88. At the same time, from 1887 to 1900, the lists also place Mehmed Salih in a post with no place named as Üçüncü sınıf polis komiseri.
