Life and register readings
Born in Dagistan in 1875/76 (AH 1292), Mehmet Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). The schooling was at Medrese, the Islamic college. Mehmet began work in Istanbul in 1898/99, at about 23, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. From the first annual entry, for 1898/99, to 1906/07, every annual entry places Mehmet in the same post, Polis 12. bölük 3. çavuşluk 5. neferliği, in Istanbul.
