Life and register readings
Mehmed Said Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1876/77 (AH 1293). Work began in Istanbul in 1894/95, at about 18, on a first salary of 500 kuruş. From the first annual entry, for 1894/95, to 1909/10, every annual entry places Mehmed Said in the same post, Hazine-i Hassa-i Şahane Kapudan Kalemi memuru, in Istanbul, the birthplace.
