Life and register readings
Ziyaeddin Efendi was born in Dagistan in 1881/82 (AH 1299); the father's occupation was "Meclis-i Kebir-i Maarif azası". At about 20, in 1902/03, Ziyaeddin began work, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1902/03, places Ziyaeddin in Beyoğlu as Telgraf ve Posta Merkezi Muhaberat-ı Ecnebiye memuru, where the entries run to 1905/06. Alongside, the lists for 1905/06 give a second post, in Istanbul as Dersaadet Postahanesi Mekatib-i Mevrude memuru.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 400 kuruş a month in 1902/03, in Beyoğlu, when 44 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1905/06.
