Life and register readings
Mehmed İzzet Efendi was born in Gelibolu in 1833/34 (AH 1249), into the İslam community. The annual lists begin in 1857/58, with Mehmed İzzet as Nüfus Kayıt Memuru (İnfisal) in Gelibolu, the birthplace, where the entries run to 1899/1900. For 1858 to 1860, 1873 to 1880 and 1900 to 1905 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1899/1900 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Tekaüt. The lists give Infisal for 1899/1900 and Vefat (death) for 1905/06 instead of a title. Entries spanning 50 years are rare, reached by fewer than 2 per cent of the 8,239 officials.
