NEFTÇİ ZADE ABDULFATTAH BEG was born in Kirkuk (Kerkük) in 1833/34 (AH 1249); the father's occupation was "Kerkük mütesellimi". Work began in 1857/58, at about 24, on a first salary of 650 kuruş. Pay rose from 650 kuruş a month in 1857/58 to a peak of 2,500 in 1873/74, as Kaymakam in Pınarbaşı, when 91 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1887/88.
