Life and register readings
The life of Mehmed Hilmi Efendi began in Antalya in 1842/43 (AH 1258); the father's occupation was "Zabtiye kâtibi". Mehmed Hilmi studied at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
At about 17, in 1859/60, Mehmed Hilmi began work. The annual lists begin in 1859/60, with Mehmed Hilmi as Mektûbî-i Maliye Odası hizmeti and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1860 to 1866. Alongside, the lists for 1888/89 give a second post, in Adana as Adana valisi ile defterdarının karşılıklı iddialarını tahkik memuru.
