Life and register readings
Born in Bursa in 1870/71 (AH 1287) into the Hristiyan community, Minas Efendi was the child of a merchant (tüccar). Minas began work in Bursa in 1889/90, at about 19, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1889/90 to 1899/1900 places Minas in the same post, sandık emini muâvinliği, in Bursa, the birthplace.
