Turhan Hüsnü Bey

Turhan Hüsnü Bey was born in Tırhala in 1845/46 (AH 1262). At about 20, in 1866/67, Turhan Hüsnü began work in Istanbul. The first annual entry, for 1866/67, places Turhan Hüsnü in Istanbul as Bâbıâli Tercüme Odası mülazımı, where the entries run to 1868/69. Alongside, the lists for 1868 to 1895 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Petersburg Sefareti ikinci kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1885 to 1887 give a second post, in Şanlıurfa as Urfa mutasarrıfı. Turhan Hüsnü then moved to Paris and Crete (Girit) from 1893 to 1896. Alongside, the lists for 1894 to 1896 give a second post, in Istanbul as Ahval-i vilayet tahkik ve teftiş komisyonu reisi. Alongside, the lists for 1896/97 give a second post, in Istanbul as Şûra-yı Devlet Mülkiye Dairesi azası. The last entry, for 1898/99, names Turhan Hüsnü as Lahey silahlanmanın genişlemesini önleme konferansı murahhası, with no place.

Pay rose from 2,000 kuruş a month in 1868/69 to a peak of 40,000 in 1895/96, in Istanbul, when 99 per cent of paid officials earned less.
