İliya Faik Efendi

İliya Faik Efendi was born in Burdur in 1865/66 (AH 1282); the father was a merchant (tüccar). Work began in Hayrabolu in 1892/93, at about 27, on a first salary of 400 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1892/93, with İliya Faik as Telgraf Merkezi Haberleşme Memuru in Hayrabolu. Alongside, the lists for 1893/94 give a second post, in Pristina as Posta Nakliye Memuru. At the same time, from 1893 to 1896, the lists also place İliya Faik in Mersin as Telgraf ve Posta Merkezi Posta Kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1895/96 give a second post, in Pozantı as Telgraf ve Posta Merkezi Müdürü. Alongside, the lists for 1895 to 1897 give a second post, in Adana as Posta Kâtibi. Alongside, the lists for 1896 to 1899 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Telgraf ve Posta Merkezi Müdürü (emaneten). Alongside, the lists for 1898/99 give a second post, in Adana as Telgraf ve Posta Merkezi Posta Kâtibi.

The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 400 kuruş a month in 1892/93, in Hayrabolu, when 45 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1898/99.
