Life and register readings
The life of Mehmet Said Efendi began in Dagistan in 1837/38 (AH 1253). The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). Mehmet Said began work in 1871/72, at about 34, on a first salary of 250 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1871/72, with Mehmet Said as Geçici gümrük memuru and no place named. Alongside, the lists for 1879 to 1900 give a second post, in Istanbul as Üçüncü sınıf polis komiseri.
