Life and register readings
Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi was born in Babik karyesi in 1844/45 (AH 1260), into the İslam community, and the father's occupation was "Şiro Nahiyesi hanedanı (ağa)". The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
Hüseyin Hüsnü began work in 1876/77, at about 32, on a first salary of 1,250 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1876/77, names Hüseyin Hüsnü as a district governor (Kaymakam), with no place. The last posts were in Kâhta from 1882 to 1886 and Adıyaman (Hısnımansur) in 1887/88, with a rise to Kaymakam in 1885/86. For 1883 to 1885 the lists have no entry. The lists give Vefat (death) for 1889/90 instead of a title.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 1,250 kuruş a month in 1876/77, as Kaymakam, when 83 per cent of paid officials earned less. In all, nine years of salary come to 127,500 kuruş, 2.9 times what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The last annual entry is for 1889/90.
