Life and register readings
Mehmed Ratib Efendi was born in Antakya in 1859/60 (AH 1276), into the İslam community, and the father's occupation was "Antakya İdare Meclisi azası". Work began in Antakya in 1876/77, at about 16. From the first annual entry, for 1876/77, to 1880/81, every annual entry places Mehmed Ratib in the same post, Mal Kalemi stajyeri, in Antakya, the birthplace. In place of a title the lists give Infisal for 1879/80.
