Life and register readings
Born in Erzincan, Yusuf Ziya Efendi came from the İslam community. Work began in 1846/47 (AH 1263), on a first salary of 200 kuruş. The annual lists begin in 1846/47, with Yusuf Ziya as Nüfus kalemi memuru and no place named. The lists have no entry for 1847 to 1860. Next came Istanbul in 1860/61, then Erzurum from 1865 to 1873.
