Life and register readings
The life of Serkiz Efendi began in Bilecik in 1865/66 (AH 1282); the father's occupation was "Rençber". The schooling was at an Armenian school for young children (Ermeni Sıbyan Mektebi).
Serkiz began work in Bilecik in 1880/81, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1880/81, places Serkiz in Bilecik, the birthplace, as Gümrük idaresinde görev, where the entries run to 1889/90. Alongside, the lists for 1889 to 1900 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Müzayede memuru. The lists have no entry for 1892 to 1896. For 1897 to 1899 the lists have no entry.
