Life and register readings
The life of İbrahim Fehim Efendi began in Gjilan (Gilan) in 1844/45 (AH 1260). Work began in Vranje (İvranya) in 1862/63, at about 18, on a first salary of 250 kuruş. Pay rose from 250 kuruş a month in 1862/63 to a peak of 1,000 in 1878, when 78 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1896/97.
