İbrahim Efendi

İbrahim Efendi was born in Shkodër (İşkodra) in 1835/36 (AH 1251). The schooling was at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi). İbrahim began work in 1862/63, at about 27, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1862/63, names İbrahim as a customs official (Rüsumat Memuru), with no place. Alongside, the lists for 1865 to 1870 give a second post, in Zadrima as Müskirat memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1873/74 give a second post, in Zadrima as Müskirat memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1873 to 1876 give a second post, in Shëngjin as Rüsumat Memuru. Alongside, the lists for 1875 to 1889 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Rüsumat Memuru.

Pay rose from 300 kuruş a month in 1862/63 to a peak of 400 in 1865/66, in Zadrima, when 46 per cent of paid officials earned less. Over 27 years pay ended where it began, at 300 kuruş. In all, 27 years of salary come to 95,160 kuruş, 70 per cent of what an official on the median salary earned in those years. The last annual entry is for 1888/89.
