Life and register readings
The life of Mehmed Hanefi Efendi began in Antalya in 1853/54 (AH 1270). The personnel record dates the first work in Havran to 1881/82, after the first annual entry. The first annual entry, for 1876/77, names Mehmed Hanefi as Askerlik, with no place. For 1877 to 1881 the lists have no entry. Mehmed Hanefi then moved to Havran from 1881 to 1883. Alongside, the lists for 1882/83 give a second post, in Damascus as Kanavât? semeni tahsildarı. Next came Tripoli (Trablusşam) and Acre (Akka) from 1883 to 1887. Alongside, the lists for 1888 to 1890 give a second post, in Haifa as Rüsumat idaresi mubassırı. Alongside, the lists for 1889 to 1891 give a second post, in a post with no place named as a customs official (Rüsumat Memuru), with a rise to Rüsumat Memuru.
Pay rose from 300 kuruş a month in 1883/84 to a peak of 600 in 1886/87, in Acre, when two in three paid officials earned less. That salary was paid for a single year, and the next list gives 240 kuruş. The final annual entry is for 1890/91.
