Life and register readings
Born in Kirkuk (Kerkük) in 1849/50 (AH 1266), MUHAMMET MUHLİSİ EFENDİ was the child of a merchant (tüccar). MUHAMMET MUHLİSİ studied at a school for young children (Sıbyan Mektebi).
At about 26, in 1876/77, MUHAMMET MUHLİSİ began work. The first annual entry, for 1876/77, names MUHAMMET MUHLİSİ as telgraf mülazımı, with no place. Alongside, the lists for 1880 to 1884 give a second post, in Kirkuk as merkez muhabere memuru. For 1884 to 1892 the lists have no entry. Alongside, the lists for 1881 to 1883 give a second post, in Mosul as merkez muhabere memuru. The last posts were in Al-Sadiyah (Kızılrabat) from 1892 to 1898. In place of a title the lists give Vefat (death) for 1897/98.
The salary went from 300 kuruş a month in 1880/81 to 570 in 1883/84, the peak, when two in three paid officials earned less. That salary was paid for a single year, and the next list gives 500 kuruş. The final annual entry is for 1897/98.
