Life and register readings
The life of İsmail Hakkı Efendi began in Tokat in 1849/50 (AH 1266); the father's occupation was "Tokat Sancağı Arazi Memuru". At about 17, in 1867/68, İsmail Hakkı began work in Tokat. The first annual entry, for 1867/68, places İsmail Hakkı in Tokat, the birthplace, as Arazi Kâtipliği stajyeri. The lists have no entry for 1868 to 1878. İsmail Hakkı then moved to Zile from 1878 to 1879, then back to Tokat from 1885 to 1887. For 1879 to 1885 the lists have no entry. Next came a return to Zile from 1888 to 1890.
