Ahmet Ferit Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1891/92 (AH 1309) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community; the father's occupation was "simendifer Atescisi". Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ahmet Ferit also wrote Armenian, French and Turkish, and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
