Life#
Ahmet Behçet Efendi was born in Istanbul in 1891/92 (AH 1309) into the Muslim (Müslüman) community. Schooling took seven years, at a middle school (Rüşdiye Mektebi); Ahmet Behçet also wrote French as well as Turkish and held a qualification (a diploma, certificate, training or decoration).
Work began in Istanbul in 1908/09, at about 16, paid from the start, on 150 kuruş a month. The annual lists begin in 1909/10, with Ahmet Behçet as a communications official (Muhabere Memuru) in Istanbul, the birthplace. In 1911 the lists place Ahmet Behçet in Kadıköy.
