Life and register readings
Mehmed Mekki Bey was born in Mecca (Mekke) in 1877/78 (AH 1294); the father's occupation was "Eski Hicaz vilayeti defterdarı". Work began in 1892/93, at about 16. The first annual entry, for 1892/93, places Mehmed Mekki in Istanbul as Şûrâ-yı Devlet Fihrist Odası mülazımı. The lists have no entry for 1893 to 1896.
