Life and register readings
Nazaret Efendi was born in Kayseri in 1849/50 (AH 1266); the father was a jeweller (kuyumcu). The schooling was at a community school (Millet Mektebi).
Nazaret began work in Istanbul in 1872/73, at about 22. From the first annual entry, for 1872/73, to 1884/85, every annual entry places Nazaret in the same post, Tütün İnhisarı İdaresi stajyeri, in Istanbul.
