Life and register readings
Mehmed Vasıf Efendi was born in Bursa in 1852/53 (AH 1269), into the İslam community. Work began in 1868/69, at about 16, on a first salary of 50 kuruş. The first annual entry, for 1868/69, names Mehmed Vasıf in the evrak odası, with no place. For 1876 to 1879 the lists have no entry. The lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1872/73 instead of a title.
