Life and register readings
Mehmed Kazım Bey was born in Istanbul in 1863/64 (AH 1280); the father's occupation was "Suriye vilayeti tahrir ve vergi müdürü". The first annual entry, for 1876/77, places Mehmed Kazım in Thessaloniki as Tahrir Kalemi muharrirat mukayyidi, where the entries run to 1884/85. At the same time, from 1884 to 1890, the lists also place Mehmed Kazım in a post with no place named as Tahrir Fırka-i Seyyare mukayyidi. Alongside, the lists for 1887 to 1889 give a second post, in Thessaloniki as Muhasebe Kalemi emanet-i aşar kâtibi. The lists give İstifa (resignation) for 1884/85 and 1886 to 1888; Infisal for 1888/89 instead of a title.
The salary went from 100 kuruş a month in 1876/77 to 1,000 in 1888/89, the peak, when four in five paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1889/90.
