Life and register readings
NECĠB EFENDĠ was born in Ibradi in 1868/69 (AH 1285); the father's occupation was "Mihalıç eski naibi". Work began in Gaziantep (Antep) in 1888/89, at about 20. The first annual entry, for 1888/89, places NECĠB EFENDĠ in Gaziantep as Şer‘iye mahkemesine devam. For 1889 to 1892 the lists have no entry. At the same time, from 1888/89, the lists also place NECĠB EFENDĠ in Tarsus as Şer‘iye mahkemesine devam. The annual lists then follow NECĠB EFENDĠ to Bursa in 1892/93. Alongside, the lists for 1892 to 1895 give a second post, in a post with no place named as Hassa kazası naibi.
The salary never rose above the first in the lists, 500 kuruş a month in 1892/93, when 56 per cent of paid officials earned less. The final annual entry is for 1894/95.
