Life and register readings
The life of Mehmed Efendi began in Çemişgezek in 1849/50 (AH 1266). At about 26, in 1876/77, Mehmed began work in Istanbul, on a first salary of 300 kuruş. Every annual entry from 1876/77 to 1902/03 places Mehmed in the same post, Şehremaneti çavuşu, in Istanbul.
