Life and register readings
Born in Diyarbakır in 1851/52 (AH 1268), Mehmed Vahid Efendi was the child of a tradesman (esnaf). At about 19, in 1871/72, Mehmed Vahid began work. The annual lists begin in 1871/72, with Mehmed Vahid as a candidate official (Mülazım) and no place named. For 1880 to 1883 and 1884 to 1887 the lists have no entry. Next came a return to Diyarbakır, the birthplace, from 1887 to 1889, then Mardin from 1891 to 1893. The lists have no entry for 1889 to 1891. From 1896 to 1907 the annual entries place Mehmed Vahid again in Diyarbakır. For 1897 to 1906 the lists have no entry.
